Menstrual Bleeding

One in every five women suffer from heavy periods and the experience is more likely for women aged 30 – 50. If the case is severe, it can cause many women to limit their activities and lifestyles. Heavy menstrual bleeding concerns should be discussed with one of our physicians at The Veranda who can discuss with you the multiple treatment options, including drug therapy, minimally invasive treatments, a hysterectomy or endometrial cryoablation therapy.

Endometrial cryoablation therapy is a very natural choice for women suffering from heavy periods and offers an alternative to a hysterectomy. The therapy uses sub-zero temperatures to destroy the tissue lining the uterus (the endometrium) that sheds during your period. The reduction or elimination of menstrual periods can free you from the pain and discomfort of heavy periods without removing your uterus or disrupting your natural hormones. Endometrial cryoablation can also be performed in a short amount of time at our office, with results following after a single treatment.

Since the uterine lining is destroyed through endometrial cryoablation, you should only choose to have this therapy if you no longer desire to have children. Your physician can talk to you about this and other treatments available for heavy and uncomfortable menstrual bleeding and address your questions or concerns.
